This outlet is very big. It is good known in Shanghai as Bailian outlet plaza. From Sheshan metro station you spent 5-7 minutes by taxi. Taxi price is about 20-30 rmb. Comparing with European outlet the prices are 1.5-2 times higher, but less than on Nanjing road or Pudong malls.
Another outlet in Shanghai is Foxtown outlet store. Never go there, NEVER!!!!! It's the worst store I've ever seen!!! Very far from the city this store is only for Chinese people who live in neighbor villages. No any free shuttle from metro station as it is written on their website. The Foxtown is very very small and dirty!!! Do Not even think visit this store!!!!

Hope your vacation goes great! It's a rather long and bumpy journey there, but I do like that rather quaint island.

Hi, I have my grandmother visiting from Denmark and after a week in Shanghai I will take her to Shengsi island next week for an island-getaway! Already booked accommodation - had my Chinese friend book a guesthouse for us at a really reasonable price considering the May holiday we are traveling in. Today we are off to Nanpu bridge to get in-advance bus and ferry tickets as you recommend - thanks for this recommendation, it would have been so sad to realize we couldn't get a seat on the bus next week! Your description on how to get there etc. is highly appreciated.

I can highly recommend the buddhist island Putuoshan if you are looking for another Shanghai island get-away.

Henrik, its not possible. You need to have a visa that is valid for 90 days. I faced the same issue as well previously (I had a multiple entry F visa valid for 60 days each entry) and I was not allowed to book the theory test date. Problem solved after I changed my visa to the working one

From this year 2013 TCD of china has changed the test questions and new test questions on their website are in chinese, they still havent uploaded english version of test questions, thats the another reason some people are getting failed in first attempt some even two three times. New question bank is comprise of 900 questions. I myself failed in first attempt coz i was preparing from old material which was 1500 question since i couldnt found new questions in english translation so i didnt have choice other than to go for old material. I bought 2013 new question bank translated in english on Taobao. after my first attempt. So if anyone needs new question bank i can send you totally free or if administrator of this website can upload these questions here or on any other website it would be helpful for many foreigners since i dont have any website of my own where i can upload them. If in case anyone wants these questions can send me message on wechat: waqas001 or waqas061984@gmail.com.

Nope, they require a separate one. But it can be done onsite, it's very efficient and fast.

I was referring to monthly allowance the company offers, and of course this is subjected to an agreement between you and the company. Rent, for instance, can be deemed as allowance as long as you provide fapiao.

Hi. My company's accounting department says that they do not have an allowance. When you say "allowance," do you mean allowance from the government to lower taxable income, or a monthly allowance the company offers to pay for such expenses. I have tried submitting fapiaos to them to lower my tax rate, they were, however rejected.

Thanks so much for this. I passed it today :) The process of
taking the Computerized Test is has been updated a bit. If the Admin can update
the above to reflect this it would be great for others to follow:

On the test day go back to the 1st floor (not
ground floor) of Building 1. In the same room as Desk 40/41 (where you got your
appointment for the test) there is a door over at the left hand side, go out
there turn right and then through the door on the left, outside onto the
external stairway, go up to the next floor and in the door. Hand all your forms
to the girl at the desk and she will either tell you wait, or direct you
straight to the computer terminal in the same room to begin the test. (They
speak a little English and signs are in English here)

If you fail the test, go back down to desk 40/41 and rebook
another test (I managed to get a second date for 3 days after failing the first
one).

If you pass the test they will give you a form at the desk.
You can now head back down to the ground floor to get another number for Desk
40/41 again. Back to the 1st floor, wait for desk 40/41 to call your
number. They will take your docs and tell you go to desk 30/31 (on the same
floor) to pay. Cost is RMB 40 for the computerized test (regardless of how
often you took it) and RMB 10 for the License.

Once you’ve paid head back and wait in the room with Desk 40/41
to be called by the guy at the left hand desk (took about 10 minutes for me).
He’ll give you your license. And that’s it. Happy motoring!

A bit different question, but still relevant.
Is anyone aware of the actual traffic rules in China? Not the test questions, but the actual rules these questions are based on. I desperately try to find them, because even though I already have my license there are basic situations where I don't know what is the correct behavior.
E.g. who has to yield to who in different intersections, when does the pedestrian have the right of way, when does the car has it, etc.
Any pointer would be appreciated.

Thank you. The posting have been very helpful and up to date. I've got my licence in August. Regarding to my own experience, I think it will be helpful to have a Chinese Speaking person to go through the procedures with you, as I can speak and read Chinese. As for the exam, I took it in Chinese because I wasn't able to find update English study materials, and I am lucky enough to be able to understand Chinese. The official Chinese website is 驾考一点通, http://mnks.jxedt.com. All the exam question come from there, and there are mockup tests. A very helpful website, but just in Chinese. Good luck to all!

I just got my working visa, so I already got a medical test. Can I use this same test results to apply for a driving license or do I need to do another one???
